ICG (International Computer Group) transitions to Computacenter
International Partner Network will now operate as
part of Computacenter International (CCI)
London, 17th July 2003 – Computacenter and ICG today announced
that the ICG (International Computer Group) partner network covering 101
countries around the world will immediately become an extended part of
Computacenter International, Computacenter’s internal division responsible
for supporting customers operations across multiple countries. The ICG
name will no longer be used. The partners of the former ICG network will
remain independent, but will be preferred partners of Computacenter in
international business.
Computacenter has for many years been the key driver of ICG, providing
most of the network’s business opportunities and running ICG operations.
The transition, which will therefore have little operational impact, is
designed to achieve the following:
a) Clearer positioning of Computacenter as an international business
and owner of international service contracts;
b) Greater control for Computacenter of international service delivery
through partners, allowing Computacenter to offer integrated services
capability across a larger number of geographies;
c) Greater access for international partners to Computacenter’s
best practices and tools.
Computacenter has consulted widely with shareholders, partners and vendors
and gained the support of all interested parties to implement this transition.
Mike Norris, Chief Executive of Computacenter said, “This change
will better position Computacenter to offer a single point of contact
and to take end-to-end responsibility for international service delivery
for internationally-operating customers.”
Thomas Keifer, CEO of former ICG shareholder, ATEA said, “This
is an exciting new development in our 10-year old relationship with Computacenter.
For international customers, ATEA will position itself outside our home
countries through Computacenter International and we look forward to a
continuing positive relationship with Computacenter.”
Thomas C. Weissmann, CEO of former ICG shareholder, ALSO said, “This
is a natural development, which recognises the position of Computacenter
within ICG. I am proud of what ICG has achieved over the past 14 years
and believe that this transition offers the most compelling solution for
our mutual international customers.”
